You said your players betrayed your work, can you elaborate?
I worked four days on this match, I prepared everything related to the opponent, I identified four movements where they score almost every one of their goals. My players got all that information in training in the last three days, and you can ask them, because I know they are honest guys and they will tell you what I'm saying is true. And in four type situations that I identified, they conceded the first and the second goals.

Are the players not good enough or not listening?
I think they listen and I think they are good enough but the mistakes were there. But I don't want to focus on the two goals we concede only, because in the past four, five or six matches we were defensively good, we didn't concede goals in some matches, we had two or three clean sheets, we concede one goal per game against Stoke, against Dynamo Kiev, but we were in a run of clean sheets. We have also another problem, which is the number of goals our attacking players score, or in this case they don't score. When we make defensive mistakes we are punished because we don't score enough goals. The number of goals our attacking players are not scoring, the team also pays for that. The good thing is the spirit, the good thing is the fact that in the last 30 minutes they tried, they gave everything they had, they scored one goal, they could score two, they could score before when we had two big chances with Diego and Pedro with 25-30 minutes to go, not 15 like when we scored the goal, and that's the positive thing that makes me leave the dressing room with a feeling not so bad as the result because in the last 30 minutes they were a team, they accepted the risk, and the risk was enormous, if you don't play well like we did it could be a fat result, and a fat result would obviously damage more, and nobody was afraid of that. We went for the rescue and we were almost there. They fought with everything, the defended everything. The ball boys were amazing too. But the ball boys point I just say because I feel it is a disgrace for the Premier League but please make it very clear that I don't want the ballboys story to be in front of a result that Leicester deserve. And I repeat Leicester deserve.

Do you accept you’re in a relegation battle?

No, I don't accept. I accept that we are in the relegation zone, I don't accept we are in a relegation battle. The relegation zone is we look to the table and you are there, that's something very obvious and simple, very pragmatic. To be in the relegation battle is when you feel that you are going to be there one, two, three or four months. And I don’t think.
For all talk of lack of goals, did formation change help when Remy went up front with Costa?
It was more of a threat and especially because I think the lack of confidence for Diego in front of the goal is bringing him to other areas. When in front of the goal he is not scoring, when in front of the goal he is not fresh mind and critical like he was for all of last season, he is leaving this area. His movements are nearly all from the centre to the sides, coming deep. Central defenders are pressing him, making faults, making contacts, in the last two matches he made two great movements as a striker, one was against Porto for the first goal, another one was today – normally in this situation he has to score. When I saw that situation leaving the box, going around, I put Remy in the box.
Would having another striker be beneficial at the start of games?
It depends, when you have a second striker you reduce the area behind in between the lines, which is an area where normally we are very important. What happened today was I put a second man in the box but I took a defender off. When a team like Chelsea plays in a typical 4-4-2 without a number 10 I think we lose our target in the building up. But losing 2-0 I tried everything. I kept that No 10 and took off a defender.

How is Hazard? Are you happy he came off?
I don’t know. He was on the floor he came out, he says he can’t do it. A couple of seconds later he says he goes inside to try and when he goes inside two steps he immediately decides to go back.
Did you expect more fight?
I don’t know. If you have a broken leg you want but you can’t, if you have a muscle injury want but can’t. I can imagine Drinkwater wanted to play but he couldn because of injury. I think Eden is injured. I didn’t speak yet with the doctor but I have to believe he is injured.
In terms of players, which is the real: Chelsea this season or last?
That’s a good question. Sometimes I find myself thinking last season I did an amazing job, I brought players to level that is not their level. If this is true, I brought them to such a level that they couldn’t keep for more than the super-motivation to be leading and almost champion. That is one possibility. Another possibility is that this season we start individually and collectively so bad that in the Premier League – the Champions League was different – maybe the sequence of bad results brought the players to a position in the table where they are not scared of the relegation zone, they feel they don’t belong to the relegation battle, but where they don’t have the motivation of the team that is fighting to be champion or top two or top four. Both are possibilities. One of them can be real.

How much longer are you prepared to give the players if they are not listening or are out of form? Will you look to buy in January?
I cannot play that is for sure. My board, my club, I don’t think is right that I go to them and say these players are not good, we need to spend, 50 or 100 or whatever. I don’t think is fair. With these players we have to go. The players that are not performing well, they must feel for sure, attacked in their pride, their self esteem. They have to do everything to get results in a humble way. I don’t think in this moment the players can feel they are top players. Or they are superstars. In this moment they have to be humble, they have to look to Leicester boys and feel these are the stars, these are the top players. They have to look to them and be humble. They have to look to Sundelrand next weekend, and to Watford in two weeks' time and say, "Hey we are at the same level as you are, I am not the superstar, not the player of season, not the world champion, not the Premier League champion. In this moment I am at your level." The players have to put their feet on the ground and be humble. If not attacked in their pride, which I am, completely honest I am totally attacked in my pride. I consider myself an very good professional. If not that I think they have to humble. Being humble is very important in this moment. In this moment we are where Sunderland is. We are below Watford five or six or seven points. We have to look to these opponents in a humble way.

Are you 100 per cent convinced you will be manager for this sequence of games?

I am surprised this is the last question. It is always the same question. The only think I can say is I want to be, I want to be, clearly want. And I have no doubts. I think you know me well enough, three years this time plus three years in another time so six years with you, you know me well enough that I am not afraid of a big challenge. In this moment it is a real big challenge. I want to stay. I hope Mr Abramovich and the board want me to stay.

You have said you won’t go to ask for new players, would you expect the board to ask you what is required?
The only thing I know is the board wants the best for this club. One thing is to want the best for this club and another thing are decisions that I mentioned.

Would you like them to come to you?
No I would like the board to analyse the situation, the budget, the balance of the club, what they are expecting to do or not do in January. I told them in beginning of the season I was expecting to not have needs for the January market. The January market is by itself a dangerous market. Sometiems you get players in emergency but they are not players you really want. Sometimes you do in January because you don’t have the right decisions from what you can do in July. I want the board to make the right decisions for the club. This is the most important thing.
